Creating Pathways to Achieve California's Climate Goals
Incentives offered through TECH Clean California are available for contractors installing heat pumps and heat pump water heaters to qualifying customers throughout the state of California.

Incentives are available for:
- Statewide single family heat pump HVAC (for projects sold April 25, 2023 and after)
- BayREN midstream heat pump water heaters - Silicon Valley Power (SVP) and Clean Power San Francisco (CPSF) service areas only
- Single family, market rate heat pump water heater incentives for electric IOU customers in SCG service area (for projects sold October 31, 2023 and after)
- Statewide single family heat pump water heater equity incentives
- Statewide multifamily heat pump water heaters (reservations are required, please visit this page to learn more)
- Commercial heat pump water heaters (electric IOU service areas only)
- 3CE EYH single family and multifamily heat pump HVAC and heat pump water heaters (for projects sold December 6, 2023 and after)
Incentives are not available for:
- BayREN Midstream heat pump water heaters for the following CCAs: East Bay Community Energy (EBCE/AVA) sales made after November 6, 2023, and Marin Clean Energy (MCE) sales made after December 15, 2023
- Statewide multifamily heat pump HVAC and unitary heat pump water heaters (market rate and equity) (Funds are fully reserved)
- Single family, market rate heat pump water heater incentives for electric IOU customers in PG&E gas service area (as of February 6, 2024)
- Single family, market rate heat pump water heater incentives for SMUD electric customers in PG&E gas service area single family (as of February 9, 2024)
- Single family, market rate heat pump water heater incentives for non-SMUD privately owned electric customers (as of March 7, 2024)
- Single family, market rate heat pump water heater incentives for electric IOU customers in SDG&E service area (after April 4, 2024)

Statewide HPWH Incentive Availability
Commercial Incentives
Statewide single family commercial heat pump water heater incentives are available as of October 31, 2023. A complete refresh of TECH Clean California heat pump water heater rules, processes, and list of qualified products can be found here.
Residential Incentives
As of April 4, 2024, single family market rate incentives are nearly reserved in SDG&E service area; therefore, April 4, 2024, is the last day to make sales and create claims to reserve incentives.
As of March 7, 2024, single family market rate incentives for heat pump water heaters are fully reserved for publicly owned utility customers; therefore, March 7, 2024, is the last day to make sales and create claims to reserve incentives.
As of February 6, and February 9, 2024, single family market rate HPWH incentives are fully reserved for electric IOU customers in PG&E gas service area and for SMUD electric customers in PG&E gas service area, respectively. Claims created after those dates in these service areas are not eligible for market rate incentives. Equity incentives in these service areas are not impacted and are still available.

3CE Electrify Your Home Program Now Available
Please note, incentives are again available for single family and multifamily projects through Central Coast Community Energy's (3CE) Electrify Your Home (EYH) program for sales on or after December 6, 2023. There have been changes to the incentive levels – please visit here for more information
Technology and Equipment for Clean Heating (TECH) Clean California is a $120 million program aimed at driving the market adoption of low-emissions space and water heating technologies for existing single and multifamily homes across California to help advance the state’s mission to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045. TECH Clean California is funded by California gas corporation ratepayers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.
